Below are the links for the Key Stage 3 Microsoft Teams:

We teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school. Students will follow their timetable and submit their work daily for each lesson scheduled.

The remote learning offer will be equivalent in length to the core teaching pupils would receive in school.

It will include both recorded or live direct teaching time and time for pupils to complete tasks and assignments independently.

The amount of remote education provided will be a minimum of 5 hours.

Your child will access their remote learning through SharePoint and MS Teams. The links can be found under ‘Student Links’ at the top of the website.

We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. We take the following approaches to support those students to access remote education:

In the first instance, please contact the school by emailing [email protected]

We will contact you to advise you of the availability of devices, including laptops, tablets and devices such as dongles that enable an internet connection.

We are also able to support a request for additional data allowances currently being provided by some mobile communication providers.

In the short term, if your child has issues accessing learning, we can arrange for printed packs. Requests for printed packs should be made via, [email protected], you must state the name and form of your child and a contact number so we can get in touch.

Work will be submitted at the end of end session, however, if your child does not have digital or online access, teachers will be in touch daily to ensure thorough assessment of progress can take place.

We use a combination of the following approaches to teach pupils remotely:
  • – Live teaching (online lessons)
  • – Recorded teaching (e.g. Oak National Academy lessons, video/audio recordings made by teachers)
    – Printed paper packs produced by teachers (e.g. workbooks, worksheets)
  • – Textbooks and reading books students have at home
  • – Commercially available websites supporting the teaching of specific subjects or areas, including video clips or sequences
  • – Assessments in the form of quizzes, available at the end of each scheduled session.

We expect your child to attend form time (8:35-9:00am) daily. This will be our welfare check, as well as an opportunity to share key notices and information. Any students not in this session will receive a phone call before 10am, to ensure they are well and continue to engage in their remote education. Following briefing, your child should access their lesson content and ensure the assessment elements are submitted.

The main support we ask from parents and carers, is that an appropriate workspace is identified for your child and that you check your child is engaging. We ask that if you do have any concerns about your child’s level of engagement, learning or progress, you report them to us by emailing [email protected] and we will get back to you.

Based on your child’s assessment at the end of their learning session, we will be contacting students to ensure any gaps in knowledge or misconceptions are addressed.

Attendance to form time and lessons will be monitored. Each lesson will require the submission of an assessment. We will continue to contact all families where we have concerns about attendance, engagement or progress. Lesson assessments will enable teachers to check progress, and where any gaps in knowledge or misconceptions are present, teachers will contact students directly through MS Teams to address any concerns.

Feedback can take many forms and may not always mean extensive written comments for individual children.

For example, whole-class feedback or quizzes marked automatically via digital platforms are also valid and effective methods, amongst many others. Our approach to feeding back on student work is as follows:

  • – End of lesson assessments will be reviewed by teachers, any students with gaps in their knowledge or misconceptions will receive small work or one to one intervention.
  • – During live sessions, as in a classroom, assessment will be ongoing throughout the lesson. Class work will be submitted for review and feedback.
  • – Following submissions, teachers will deliver whole class feedback sessions, which include modelling of responses to further develop student understanding and accelerate progress.

We recognise that some pupils, for example some students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home.

We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on families, and we will work with parents and carers to support those students in the following ways:

  • – Teaching Assistants will support students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND), who may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. This will include offering them a place at school if they are unable to access learning at home and through providing small group intervention through Microsoft Teams.
  • – All students with an EHCP will receive twice weekly phone calls to support them with their learning.

If your child is at home due to self-isolation, but their peers remain in class. They will continue to access their remote learning in the same way, through the same platforms. It is expected that they will join form time remotely.

It is expected that they will complete all work set on MS Teams/SharePoint and submit any assessments.

They will be invited to attend any lessons scheduled to be live, at the designated lesson time.

On the whole, feedback will continue in the same way, to address any gaps in knowledge and understanding or misconceptions.

Attendance, engagement and submissions will be expected, unless you inform us that your child is too unwell to complete their learning for that day.
